This waterfront regeneration in Jersey’s capital, St. Helier comprises a 50,000m² development containing a financial services centre, shopping mall, hotel, a transportation centre and a new office for tourism.
The historical landmark site included a listed façade and features which were closely monitored by local authority and English Heritage, and was led by architect Axis Mason.
The client’s, Island Developments ltd, brief insisted upon an energy efficient design solution without fuss or over elaboration and we have used our environmental expertise to explore the use of sustainable materials.
The solutions also had to fall in line with the strict requirements of the local planners and historic buildings officer.
The project consisted of mechanical ventilation and cooling to the tourism office and aparthotel alongside the provision of mechanical, electrical and public health infrastructure to the various office and retail spaces. In addition fire protection and alarm systems were provided throughout the public areas.
