GDM PARTNERSHIP DONATE £1,000 IN SUPPORT OF PROSTATE CANCER UK FOLLOWING MAMBO MANIA CAMPAIGN
We’ve been closely following our football club of choice Ebbsfleet United’s quest to get Mambo No.5 back in everyone’s lives… not just Monica, Erica, Rita and Tina’s.
Following a fan-led social media campaign to get Yado Mambo’s shirt number changed to the No.5, Ebbsfleet United obliged by creating a one-off version and auctioning it off, with all proceeds donated to Prostate Cancer UK.
The final bid was for a staggering £1,650, and as back-of-shirt sponsor, we were proud to support this worthy cause by donating a further £1,000.
The cheque was presented to Prostate Cancer UK and Ebbsfleet United ahead of the team’s match against Hartlepool United last weekend.
GDM Director, Craig Scott said: “It’s been fantastic to see the amount of public support that Prostate Cancer UK and Ebbsfleet United have received through this, and we’re proud to have helped support such a worthy cause - even if it does mean we’ve all had that song stuck in our heads for the past few weeks.”
Peter Varney, Executive Vice Chairman of Ebbsfleet United Football Club, commented “I’m incredibly touched and proud to see the amazing amount raised for Prostate Cancer UK following our unique shirt auction and donations from GDM Partnership and Ebbsfleet United supporters.
“What started out as a bit of fun will make a massive difference to people affected by this disease, and speaking as someone on the road to recovery, I’m so grateful for all the support. The football family never fails to step up in times like this and I’m really proud of the Ebbsfleet supporters that got behind this – and the wider public too – and to raise £3,500 in total was beyond anyone’s expectations.”
